What’s KootenayBike all about?

First off this site is about getting people out on their bikes and having fun. It’s about meeting new friends, exploring new trails, riding old favorites, taking care of the trails and fostering the riding community in the Kootenays. We don’t discriminate on skill or type of riding your into. If you are into riding bikes, then we are into providing you with some insight to the local trails and the different Kootenay scenes. Whether you are looking for trail descriptions, photos or videos, we aim to showcase all the best riding in Nelson, Rossland, and the Slocan.

What you won’t find here

Although we are dedicated to showcasing the local trails and riding scenes, we won’t be providing any specific trail location information. We believe in supporting the local shops and they are still the best place to get some extra insight and specific trail location directions by buying the local trail guide book and maybe a spare tube or t-shirt. The local shops are the hub to the vibrant riding scene here in the West Kootenays so let’s support them and keep the scene growing.

How we got started

The idea to catalog and describe the trails came out of the idea from wanting to ride new trails. To often we stick to the trails we like and rarely ride outside of what we know, so by just wanting to explore and ride we thought we could share the experience and motivate others to do the same.
