Garett Buehlers Homeland

Check out today’s VOD on PinkBike of local shredder Garett Buehler. Sweet vid with lots of action near the end from Shitaker..

Mike Kinrade’s Summer of Contour

Just saw this quick little edit on PinkBike this morning. Kinrade shows off some good times from this summer with some epic shots of some quality Kootenay riding.

For the whole post on PinkBike go here

Helidrop – Chase Life

I can’t imagine a sweeter way to access some of the jaw-dropping vertical around the Kootenay’s than with a heli drop. Aaron Chase, Schley, Wade Simmons and a few of there bro’s were lucky enough to get dropped off on what looks like upper hitman. Cool scenery with helmet-cam footage showing some classic Kootenay single track – finishing out on Doz Slabs. Looks like a good time.. I wonder if you get to do laps… Check it out.. video from VitalMTB.

Chaselife 17, Helidrop in Nelson B.C. – More Mountain Bike Videos

Garett Buehler’s Neighborhood Vid

Stumbled across this vid on PinkBike the other day.. shows some sweet Nelson footage with Garett ripping on Bedframe and finishing out on Skier’s Right. Cool little bike check that shows off Garett’s skills and some of the 2011 Mongoose bikes.

LifeCycles – Official Trailer

The official trailer of the upcoming, game-changing, LifeCycles movie was released last night.. and it looks as good as it’s hyped up to be. The Rossland based team of Frankowski and Gibb seem to have nailed it on their first film, and from what I’ve heard from friends who attended the Crankworx pre-screening is that it will melt your brain. The trailer is done up true-hollywood style and I can’t wait to see this film. I only hope it comes out on iTunes too – just so I don’t need to wait for it to be shipped.

Awesome work guys.. stoked on this big time.

Mike Hopkins – Day in the Life by Dan Poirier

Another solid vid by local film maker Dan Poirier. This vid captures a day in the life of local shred-dog Mike Hopkins. Some hi-speed shredding around Rossland is going to be on the menu after watching this vid! Makes me want to build a big DH bike in my shop too.. Awesome again Dan – keep it up.

Goat Style Bike Jam 2010 – Slopestyle Competition by Dan Poirier

Being in Whistler the last few weeks, and seeing all the madness that is Crankworx, I’ve almost started to believe the hype that Whistler is the center of the slopestyle universe. But cue the email that just landed in my inbox from Dan Poirier with his fresh new edit of the 2010 Goat Style Bike Jam – and I come back to my senses. Top riders, shredding at a grass-roots competition is what it’s all about! Dan adds, “the boys in Creston know how to set the stage for top riders to throw down big! Goat Style Bike Jam for 2010 was nothing less than stellar once again…”

So while I get ready for my last few laps in the park before I head home.. it’s cool to get stoked on some riding happening in our own backyard. Ride free.

2010 Goatstyle Video by Aaron LaRock

Any doubters that the slopestyle scene in the Kootenays is alive in well has got to check out this cut from 2010 Goatstyle last weekend by Aaron LaRock. It’s an awesome vid, really well done and the riding is pretty insane. It’s cool to see this small Creston, BC contest grow and grow over the years and the calibre of riders that are being attracted to it. Great work to Aaron for the video and the whole Goatstyle crew for putting on such an awesome event.

Two Nelson Shredders selected to 2010 NSMB AIRprentice

This coming long weekend two local shred-dogs will be competing in this year’s AIRprentice presented by NSMB.com and Specialized. Russ Fountain, and Nick Cima made the top-9 and invited to compete at Silverstar this coming weekend (July 3-4). Rilor Spring Shred by Andre Nutini

Just in time to get you stoked to ride this weekend, Andre Nutini comes in with another sweet kootenay mountain biking video featuring Rilor Wilderness owner Riley McIntosh and his good friends Mike Hopkins, Evan Schwartz and Garett Buehler. The video follows the crew of riders on the first Rilor Wilderness trip of the season. The riding is flowy, with the riders hitting berm after berm of loamy goodness. Gotta get out to New Denver and do some riding! Again great work by Andre with some stellar camera/editing skills, and capturing the bro factor to a T.

The sound track is awesome and so is the riding – check it out and get out there and ride this first nice weekend in a long time!

Evan Schwartz & The Wilson – by Andre Nutini

Local filmer Andre Nutini comes out hot with another sweet vid showcasing local shredder Evan Schwartz on the 2010 Devinci Wilson. The bike looks sicks, Evan’s riding is awesome and Andre’s skills are top notch.. check it out. Leave a comment if this get’s your stoke on!

Trent Zoobkoff seshing on Powerslave

I saw this video a while back and somehow stumbled upon it again this morning. With all this rain lately and not yet having the pleasure to go for a rip on Powerslave this year – this vid of local shredder Trent Zoobkoff on Powerslave makes me want to see the sun and some dry trails again! Trent rips the flow that Riley built into this awesome trail, can’t wait for the weather to change and get up into Giveout Creek. Weather looks good for the end of the week and the weekend!

Rilor Wilderness Mineshaft Trail

Showcasing some wicked riding in the Slocan Valley – Andre Nutini showcases Rilor Wilderness owner Riley McIntosh as he talks about trail building and takes you from the Rilor Wilderness cabin to shredding on Mineshaft. Andre has got some serious game – the quality of the footage, cuts and music are bang on and this little clip will have to ready to go shred the Slocan. Just sit back and enjoy…

Kootenay Mountain Biking Vid

Norwegian writer Geir Anders Rybakken Ørslien and Canadian photographer Kari Medig team up to cover the great mountain biking trails around Nelson, British Columbia.

I found out about photographer Kari Medig a few months ago when I was working on some photo research for the G3 website project. I was struck by the quality of Kari’s work and after digging a little deeper I found this slideshow showcasing Kootenay Mountain Biking on his Vimeo page I was instantly wanting to head out for an epic ride. Showcasing local area trails like Powerslave, Doz Slabs, Balls Deep, Shitaker, Baldface and Shannon Pass, Idaho Peak in New Denver and the Seven Summits in Rossland, Kari’s photos capture the majestic scenery, the variety of trails in our area and the many epic rides that are all within an hour of any of the Kootenay towns. If this slideshow doesn’t get you pumped to go out and ride, check your pulse – because you might be dead.
